If you lost important information the data recovery may be the only viable solution. Data can get lost with accidental deletion from the storage device (for example hard drive, flash card, notebook, USB drive or tape), lost with mechanical damage to the drive, or with viral attacks. The process of extraction of the information from the affected drive is usually called data recovery. In many cases of the information loss that seems irreversible the data can actually be recovered in our labs.

2. I cannot access my data. What should I do in the first place?

First, don’t panic.

Second, disconnect the power supply of your drive. If you don’t know how to do this do not attempt anything and bring the computer itself to us.

Third, try to remember your last actions before the access to your data was lost. This can prove very useful to our engineers during data recovery.

5. What are the main reasons for the loss of information?

Our Data Recovery Center deals with many different reasons for the data loss. Listed below are the most common symptoms as described by our clients:

  • Accidentally deleted files.
  • Lost partition.
  • PC prompts to format the drive and/or a partition.
  • HDD is not located by BIOS or is located sporadically.
  • HDD produces noise (clicking or scratching sounds).
  • HDD produces no sounds at all.
  • Files damaged/deleted after a viral attack.
  • Physically damaged drive: fallen from a height, caught a fire, short-circuited and so on.

6. I want to send my drive to you. How should I pack it?

The simplest and most reliable method of packaging is as follows:

  • Put your drive (HDD, flash card, USB Flash Drive etc.) in bubble wrap (can be bought at any postal or courier service offices).
  • Put the wrapped drive in a carton and seal it with the scotch tape.
  • Keep in mind that the aim of the packaging is to isolate the drive from shocks and impacts while in transit.

Don’t forget to enclose a shortened accompanying list (*.xls, 35 kb).

7. How the confidentiality is ensured?

In more than 17 years of operation we have provided services to commercial and governmental organizations, banks, law enforcement structures, and individual client. Our engineers are not interested in and do not look through our clients’ files.

The safety of your data in guaranteed by:

  • Highly restricted access to our facilities.
  • Restricted access to the drives themselves. Each drive is only accessible to the person directly involved in its recovery.
  • Complex antivirus and anti-hacker security system that includes the physical separation of the networks.
  • Other security and access restriction systems.
8. Repair and data recovery. Why can’t they be combined?

HDD or flash-drive repair is incompatible with the recovery of its contents due to technical reasons. No manufacturer currently supplies the spare parts for its storage devices. Therefore the repair that requires spare parts can only be done using the parts obtained by disassembling new or used drive of the same model. This means that repairing a drive costs at least the same as purchasing the new one which makes no sense. This also means that after repair or fitting the spare parts the data gets irretrievably lost.

We have no need to repair the storage device for data recovery as we used purpose-built tool of our own design that allow the access to the drive’s conents on the level of the manufacturer.

9. Should I trust the data recovery utilities?

Presently there is no single program capable of consistent data recovery. Moreover, they can only fix minor file structure damage. Keep in mind that the developers of freeware and shareware tools share no responsibility for the safety of your data and its non-disclosure. The measure of risk you are willing to undertake toward your data is to be decided only by you yourself.
